KooyongKoot Alliance revegetation project on Gardiners Creek Reserve in Burwood
The KooyongKoot Alliance (KKA), were successful with their application to the State Government’s Green Links grant program.
The $94,000 will be used to fund the removal of weeds and the planting of 16,000 plants over two years across this 1.2 Ha part of the Gardiners Creek (KooyongKoot) corridor near Deakin University campus.
The community group alliance will work closely with Whitehorse City Council, the Urban Guerrillas and community members to deliver the large scale planting project.
The Gardiners Creek (KooyongKoot) Regional Collaboration will support this project throughout it’s duration through input and guidance from collaboration members at group meetings, and through complimenting activities such as works to monitor the projects impact on biodiversity.
The first stage of the project is to remove the weeds, followed by a series of community planting events.
